I like days/reports like these. I had Don from PA today and he really wanted to target tarpon. The main spot was still about an hour and a half way from prime time but I found some tarpon at another spot. They did the typically tarpon thing, roll, look at our baits and ignore them. Ha, just you wait tarpon! Once we had the right tide I took Don to a spot I like and after some patience, mainly on my part, Don hooks an 80lb tarpon. Getting the fish out in open water we both thought we were in the clear until the tarpon, just 20' from the boat spits the hook. We tried it again and Don hooked up again but this time the fish spits the hook on a massive jump. Urgh! Finally deciding to change it up after it slowed down we looked for bonefish where Don got his first bonefish and then we missed a second bite. Way to go Don!
