During the past week, sight fishing has been more difficult along Florida's Space Coastreports Captain Keith Mixon of Lakeland(www.mixinworkwithplay.com). Both breezy and rainy conditions have made inshore waters throughout Brevard County murky. With this being said, several species of game fish have continued to bite both artificial lures and live bait. In Mosquito Lagoon, slot size redfish have been aggressively biting Nemire's ½ ounce Red Ripper Gold Spoon when fished on light tackle. Many of these reds were caught just above the grass line in three feet of water or less. The flash of the gold spoon and the patented rattle has helped these fish to locate this bait. In addition, Nemire's Gold Spoons have also worked well around pot holes in the northern end of the Indian River. Twitching this bait with a slow retrieve has allowed it to sink into these pot holes and other ambush sites for a solid hook up.
In addition, live pinfish on a circle hook fished on a bobber has helped to locate speckled trout in three to four feet of water. The length of the trout caught has ranged from fourteen to seventeen inches with an occasional larger fish. Many of these trout have been caught near the eastern shoreline of the Indian River during the last few hours of daylight.
