Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 3/22/08
Water Temperature 58-60 degrees
This past week on the water has been one of the most difficult pre-spawn March fishing times I have ever seen on Lake Guntersville. The bass have shut down when they should have been running, feeding and knocking the baits out of your hands. They are not active; my only explanation is that the fishing pressure has gotten the best of them. They obviously have been caught and beat up well too many times and they are shy of baits. Either that or the high muddy water is causing them to shut off, regardless I have never in all my years of fishing this lake seen an early spring like we have had this week.
The fish we caught this week were small, the numbers were down and you struggled all week. All I can say let's all hope that this dead period ends this up-coming week. The fish we did catch were caught on rattle baits, Mister Twister 6 inch lizards in black neon and blue flake, Tight-Line jigs in black and blue ½ oz. And crank baits.
It will pick up I promise you, there is an end to all this and hopefully it's this week. Come fish with me, I will work hard to put you on the bass. I have open dates starting April 2nd.
