The past few days have seen strong east winds and high seas, but today the Lady Pamela IV had some tough anglers aboard that wanted to catch fish. Captain Darin and JJ opted to kitefish into the seas because trolling along the reef edge in the trough would have been a miserable rollercoaster ride. The decision turned out to be a good one as they caught some big blackfin tunas in the 15 lb range and a 10 lb mahi-mahi.

They also had a big slab of bonito rigged with 2 hooks hanging off the kite, hoping for a shark. They got their wish when a big dorsal fin popped up behind the bait. It only took one circle of the bait before the monster hammerhead ripped the bait from the kite. This fish put up a great fight, made even more exciting in the high seas. Our intrepid anglers prevailed and got the fish to the boat for some quick pictures and a release. What a trip!
