he fishing the past week has been up and down with the weather we have
been having. Sometimes I wish it would just stay cold rather the change
50 degrees in 24 hrs.Two times the last couple weeks we have seen
temp's in the mid 80's one day and the low 30's the next.
The number of fish we are catching is a little off for this time of the year
but I also will say that most of my clients are fishing for a Trophy and not numbers.
The St Johns River in the area I am fishing now in not known for producing
big numbers of fish but we are catching quality fish on every trip.
This river will start producing the numbers of fish over the next month
when the shad run starts. Then we will be catching big schooling fish
in very good numbers.I have clients catch 10 pound + fish that are busting shad
every year. The fish are spawning and I am seeing more and more fry on every trip.
Today we had a nice all around trip.I was guiding Annie and Jason and we
started the day shiner fishing we had 6 fish up to 7 3/4 pounds by 10 am.
We then did a little of everything the rest of the day.Jason caught a couple fish
buzzing a frog over some matted grass beds as I was push poling the boat I
spotted a couple fish locked up on beds and Jason was able pitched a worm to
the beds and catch them.I have the 25th 26th 27th of Feb open so if you are
looking for a great day on the water please give me a call.
