Fished the river today with my good buddy Gary Clark from Kissimmee.
The morning started off slow as we only caught a dozen fish by 11am.
As we were heading back to the marina I was telling Gary about a place
that I had caught a bunch of fish in 20 years ago when the river was flooded
like it is now, but that I have not caught a fish in the spot sense then.
As we go by the spot and I am pointing it out I decided to stop and give it a try.
As I put the trolling motor in the water I see a couple fish chasing shad and
I picked up a rod with a white fluke and make a cast and missed a fish next cast
I hook a fish, for the next two hrs it was just about a fish on every cast.Gary
tied on a rattletrap and was hauling them in on every cast I was throwing a
topwater prop bait and missing a fish on every cast.I then gave in and tied on a
rattletrap and started catching a fish on every cast when we got tired of casting a
rattletrap we could pick up a worm and catch a fish on every cast.I called my
brother who was on the river with his 9 year old grandson and told him to come
to me as we were about to leave I waited for him to get there and told him
what was going on he anchored up beside us and I watched my nephew catch
a few then Gary and I headed in.I have no ideal how many fish Gary and I caught
today as I am not much on counting when they are biting that well but I would
be willing to say that in two hrs we caught 40 and I am probably a little lite.
Most fish were over two pounds and a few in the 4 pound range.
Today was not a guide trip just a trip with a very good friend and that is why
I was fishing.
