Even though we enjoy the warm weather this time of the year I feel that
it is the worst thing that can happen to us as far as keeping a good pattern
on the fish.Last week with the water temps staying in the upper 50"s and low
60's the fish begin to feed really well. This past week we have had high's in
the low to mid 80's and low's in the upper 60's which has the water temps
back up to the high 60's and low 70's and the catch rate has when to about half
from the week before.I had a couple of my regular clients in town this week
and the artificial bite was fair with David S of VA catching 12 fish up to
5 lbs on Tuesday and Deb and Dan also of VA catching 13 fish up to 4 1/2
lbs on Thursday. Most fish were caught on RattleTraps and a few on a C Rig
fishing main river shellbeds on the southend of the St Johns River. We are
counting down the days until the spawn kicks into gear and the Big St Johns
River Trophy Bass move to the shallow water and the sight fishing begins.
