Steelhead Fishing on the Chilliwack river just east of Vancouver, and the Fraser river valley is the main focus of our guided fishing until April and our last guided trip on March 22 produced a nice 14 lb wild Steelhead!. Fly fishing for Bull trout and Cutthroat trout has started to pick up as salmon fry are more available in Vancouver and Fraser valley area rivers. Weather patterns over the past week have remained cool but a bit warmer than it has been along with some much needed rain. The Chilliwack river came up a few days ago and is already back down low again today but fresh fish did enter so fishing has picked up a bit. Squamish area rivers remain low and very cold due to the grip of winter that just keeps holding on! When this system warms up and rises fishing should be great. Best times are typically early April to mid May. The Chilliwack river is the best choice for Steelhead near Vancouver with fish up to 22 lbs! this year. Our biggest client fish this season was a gorgeous 17.2 lb Steelhead.
Fraser river guided Sturgeon fishing will start again in early April. Dont forget to book early for prime sturgeon fishing dates for springtime!(April/May) and our late summer/fall sturgeon fishing is prime time for Big Sturgeon averaging 5-7 feet!
Salmon fishing in the Fraser river is looking to be very good this summer and fall with up to 50 million salmon returning from late June to November!
