MARCH 14 REPORT
The fishing locally has slowed a bit in the last couple weeks…We have had hit fish, but it has not been as good as it was in January and February. The fish that we have been hooking have been strictly along the West Vancouver shoreline. On average we have been hooking 2-4 chinook salmon per trip over the last couple weeks. Spoons have been our weapon of choice fished very close to the bottom. We have some trips out later this week so we will check out a couple more areas that usually start to produce around this time of year. Quite often in early March, the winter chinook salmon disperse and chase the spawning herring in Georgia. Once the herring spawn finishes…usually this week..fishing really picks up as the fish migrate back to their normal haunts.
One of the best chinook fisheries of the year is quickly approaching! April is typically one of the BEST months to fish for Chinook salmon in local Vancouver waters. Usually the fishing really picks up during the first or second week of April with good numbers of Chinook salmon in the 8-25 pound range. The south side of Bowen Island, the QA Marker, Jericho, the Bell Buoy, and the outer reaches of Vancouver Harbour will really pick up in coming weeks. Give us a call if you want to get out in April and experience some excellent angling. Give us a call sooner than later if you want prime weekend dates!
Crabbing has been very good in Vancouver Harbour and traps are being dropped on all charters! Prawning in Howe Sound has been very good as well and we have been dropping prawn traps on our 8 and 10 hour charters!
Give us a call to book a spring fishing charter
April and May are some of the best months for numbers of Chinook salmon!
