Downtown Vancouver Salmon Fishing Report

January 19 Report

We we managed to get out a couple of times over the past week and a half with mixed results. Fished the QB marker to the West Vancouver shoreline with only seeing one decent fish on the hook that a seal grabbed right away. Did manage to land and release quite a few 16" to 21" Chinook so hopefully over the next month we will start the see larger keeper sized fish. Our depths have been 70 feet to bottom with an assortment of spoons no flasher working. Didn't see much bait on the sounder and the key to Winter fishing is finding the bait. February and March sees a big improvement in the English Bay fishery so we look forward to the upcoming weeks. Crabbing was great with 6 to 8 keepers per trap off of Stanley Park in 60 feet of water. We are now into a fog pattern so I don't expect to be out for a few more days until the weather pattern changes. Should see more frequent reports now that the cold weather is gone.

Good luck and tight lines.
