Downtown Vancouver Salmon Fishing Report
September 19, 2007
Downtown Vancouver Report:
The T10 to South Arm area has been excellent for the past week if the water cooperates. Chinook in the 30's to mid 40's are common. Depths that have worked best are 35 feet to 65 feet with plastic producing better than bait but both work well. Seals have been a problem so be prepared to deal with 200 pounds taking your 30 pound Chinook ! The bulk of these fish are White meat with a few Red meat Chinooks mixed in and we hope to see them migrate North to the English Bay area by the weekend. A good area to try if the water is rough is the Mile markers to Point Grey as these fish move North.
The West Vancouver Coho and Pink Salmon fishery has ground to a halt with the odd Coho coming out but they are larger now as we hit Fall. There have been a few Chinook caught every day but this fishery has not started yet. Coast wide Fall runs are late so we may see them by the weekend or next week. We are expecting rain so this may bring them in sooner. Anchovy, Herring with and without flasher have worked well but white hootchies behind a flasher trolled quickly have worked best.
If you are interested in going fishing drop by our new dock location (we moved about 50 feet!) at the Westin Bayshore Hotel beside the LIFT Bar and Grill or give us a call.
Good luck and tight lines.
