Kabetogama/Namakan Fishing Report 1/15/07
Artic air and a little snow have made ice travel to the fishing holes and inland lakes much easier than many past years. No slush to impede travel.
Crappies and walleyes hit small minnows on and off throughout the week. Depths of 28-35' seem to be the commonplace. Flashes 6' off the bottom are the crappies with perch, sauger and walleyes just off the bottom.
Kabetogama entrance into Ash River has been a popular spot as in most years. Ice travel this year will permit anglers to try all locations throughout the lakes.
Pike fisherman continue to do well in shallow 10-18' depths, spear in nice clear water or use your tip-ups. Suckers and light northern size bait your only choice.
Lake trout opened Saturday, many anglers chose to fish inland lakes, airplane jigs, Heddon sonars, and ciscoes were bait choices to mention a few.
Anglers using portables, remember to bring anchoring devices for your portables and that minimum reflective material is required.
Have a Great Day!
