Fort Lauderdale Fishing on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak
This past week Wahoo's have moved into Fort Lauderdale FL. The Wahoo is the fastest fish in the ocean, clocked at 64 mph. They have razor sharp teeth with vertical silver stripes on top of a neon blue background, and are sought after for their meat as well as being a trophy fish.
Jim Brown from Ohio was one of the lucky anglers this week to hook up and catch a 28 lb. Wahoo on the plainer rod with a blue and purple sea witch in front of a double hook Bonito strip. The tall tale sign of a Wahoo on the hook up is that the rod tip bounces erratically up and down with an excessive speed of line exiting the reel. Fifteen minutes later our mate, Dave, gaffed the prized Wahoo as he welcomds the fish aboard the Happy Day Today. Our next angler to catch a Wahoo was Alfin Alsen from Norway – his was 36 lbs. This fish ate a 3 ½ blue reflector drone spoon that was on the plainer rod. Again the same signs were there – the rod tip bouncing up and down, caused by the fish shaking his head from side to side, and the line exiting the reel at an extremely fast rate.
With a couple of Mahi Mahi's and Bonito's added to our fish box, aboard the Happy Day Today Topshotfishing, it was time to head back.
