March 16
Today we started out our day fishing with Tiffany, Alexander and William from Toronto Canada.
We started out trolling the reef with 2-planner board running about 45 feet down along with 3 baits skipping across the surface.
I must admit that this morning fishing was very slow however we did manage to catch a few king fish.
As we pulled back to the dock we had a shared charter going with Greg his wife Nuria and their son 6 year old Andy all from Knoxville Tenn. and we also had James from Connecticut and Dan from New Jersey.
We started out by backing the boat up to a ship that has been anchored up in about 100 feet of water right out in front of Fort Lauderdale for the past week.
J.J. set out a chum bag and started shaking it to attract some baitfish out from under the ship. Sure enough it worked perfectly and before we knew it the baitfish were all over behind the boat and everyone was catching Speedos (a bait fish) one after another.
Once we had plenty of live baits J.J. setout 5 live baits on the surface and one down deep on a downrigger and we slow trolling them down the ref.
Ok @ this point everyone had caught fish but they were all little fish and our expectations were for a lot bigger fish so we planned to trade these little fish in for some bigger fish.
And that is exactly what happen before we knew it we had a big sailfish all over one of our live baits and just like that BAM we were Hooked Up.
James jumped in the chair and the fight was on. It was a back and forth tug a war for over 20 min but @ last James hung in there and ended up landing an 88 inch sailfish. Way to go James.
We slow trolled the live baits for another hour or so without a bite so we decided to try dropping one of our live baits 210 feet to the bottom on top of a shipwreck.
As soon as we hit bottom BAM the rod bent over Captain Greg went ahead with the boat to pull this fish away from the wreck so it could not get us back into the wreck Little Andy jumped in the chair and the fight was on.
Andy fought his heart out and ended up landing a big amber jack. We got a quick photo and released him to fight again another day.

March 17
This morning we started out fishing with Bill AKA Shorty and David from Litchfield Illinois and their good friend Matt from Toledo.
We started out catching some live baits @ a ship that had been anchored up off the coast for the last week or so.
Once we caught plenty of live baits we slow trolled them down the reef.
While fishing was on the slow side we did manage to catch a few nice kingfish.
Guys' I want to thank again for fishing with us aboard the Hooked Up.
Once we got back to the dock we had a quick turn around trip with Bob and Mary from Minnesota and Maggie, Eric and Molly all from Clewiston Florida.
We still had plenty of live bait left over from this mornings fishing trip so we went right to slow trolling them over the reef.
As luck would have it fishing had really turned around in the last hour since we had left.
This time we ended up catching 2 sailfish and 4 nice kingfish.
Unreal just an hour ago the reef fishing had been very slow and than just like that things changed around.
So many people ask me when they are booking the boat (isn't the fishing better in the morning?) well there you have it. Fishing is best when the fish are biting and that does not always mean in the morning.

March 18
Today we had a crazy bunch on spring break from Ohio State
We had Cory, Cody, Scott, Nate, Evan and Adam.
Today was one of those days where trolling dead baits out fished live baits.
We did mostly trolling the reef today catching 3 Wahoo, 6 kingfish and 6 small black fin tunas.

March 19
Today we started out with three brothers Dennis from California Tyler and Dan from St Pete Florida and Dan's son Alex also from St Pete.
Eating fish was what we were looking for so we started out trolling the reef with 3 lines running down deep and 3 more baits skipping across the surface.
I've got to say that catching fish was not much of a problem because the king fish were biting pretty well on the reef and we had all the kings we needed.
So we took a chance and headed off shore looking for some dolphin fish. Sorry to say that the dolphin fish just were not around today but all in all everyone had a great time catching kings and catching up on old times.
Guys this trip went by much to fast I really enjoyed talking about the 70s with you guys and we sure hope we get to fish together again soon.
As we pulled back to the dock we had our afternoon charter waiting for us.
We had Mom and Dad Mark and Pam and their 3 children Sanna, Tyler and Nick all from the very warm state of Minnesota.
Now I've got to say fishing was slow this afternoon but much to our surprise they were having such a good time they asked if they could extend their trip longer?
As luck would have it in our extended hour was when we started catching a few fish.
We had tried deep drops on a few different ship wrecks we even tried slow trolling live baits over some of the shallower wrecks trying to catch a barracuda but just no luck.
But for some reason at the last extended hour while we all talking and no trying as hard fish just started biting for us and we ended up catching four kingfish.

Today we had Dove, Joe, Shawn, Maggie and Joel all from down here in South Florida.
Eating fish was what was on the menu today so we started out trolling the reef with 2-planner board running about 45 feet deep and 3 baits skipping across the surface.
It seemed the deeper lines were catching all the fish today and the king fish were biting well we ended up with a box full of kings and a couple bonitos.
Once we had more than enough kings for the table we headed out to a little deeper water hoping to find some dolphin fish but they just were not around today.
