Kabetogama/Namakan Fishing Report 10/6/08

Great fall weather, Great fishing. Walleye action still going strong as the lake still remains 57 degrees.

Anglers are having success fishing at depths between 25-35'. Position yourself on structured shorelines, keeping in mind wind direction.

Jig and minnow remains the best presentation, a slip sinker rig with minnow will work if that's your preference.

Pike hitting on live bait, especially sucker minnows in areas like Daily Bay, Nebraska Bay and Lost Bay.

Artificial lures are being used for both pike and walleye, shorelines are again the best bet, stay near the bottom at depths of 15-25'.

A few crappies reported, but action is very spotty.

A hard frost mid-week should help knock down foilage for grouse hunters.

We are still registering bear, as the season is winding down. Deer starting to move a little, so be careful as you drive.

Fall colors still around with the last of the leaves still turning.
