Walleye fishing has been a challenge for many anglers, especially for those of us who drift, during the month of May. Warm weather with very little wind has created difficult times for many. However, the catch rate is on the upswing. Walleyes are starting to school up in the open waters and are starting to make there moves throughout the lake.
Many of the better catches thus far have been off and around the reef and shoal areas of the Western Basin, and around Kelleys Island.
In spite of the slow start we are anticipating an excellent season for both walleye and yellow perch. Now is the time to book that charter trip or to bring your boat to Lake Erie for some of the finest walleye and perch fishing in the country.
