HAPPY FISHING FOURTH OF JULY!
Freshies Report!
Wasp Nests and Fresh corn on the cob!
With a title like that you probably don't know whether to start swatting or get ready to start chomping down! The fact of the matter neither is correct. Ben Jones of South Carolina shared with me one of freshwater secrets. When Ben is targeting bream his first step is to search for a wasp nest. After finding a fine fresh one and obtaining without being detected his plan comes together. Built into the nest are quite a few un-hatched wasps eggs. These eggs make great bream bait. This is s suggestion for those fishermen that aren't allergic to possible "wasp stings!"
Ray, also from South Carolina shared another great controlled bait to use. It's not pretty nor do you want to talk about it, but it really does work. He would pick himself a fresh piece of corn. Ray would then cut all corn off husk, put in bowl, let stand outside, and wait. Here's comes the bad news, but supposedly the bait part. Flies circle, land, lay eggs, and then fly off in directions unknown. As you can imagine where this is going. The eggs hatch into "fly lava," (best word to use) which make great bream bait! I am done with this story! However, bait is bait and sometimes it appears to be something else. In this case, "it is!"
I had a customer ask me the other day if I like gambling. My answer was "Yes" as long as money wasn't involved. They then proceeded to explain that fishing is a lot like gambling. You never know what you are going to catch, if it going to stay on your hook, and how long it will last! I think he made his point!
