Checked the weather forecast for today and the weatherman indicated an approaching cold front with 15-25 knot winds, rain and overcast skies. We guess what as usual they were wrong. Went ahead and had my clients meet me at the ramp around 10 AM to take advantage of the incoming tide. The weather was beautiful… blue skies, a few scattered clouds and 70 degrees. It's really hard to understand how our meteorologist can consistently get it wrong about 75% of the time. They do occasionally get it right but not often.
We fished from 10 AM to 2 PM and had a great trout bite on live shrimp and artificial lures. The gang caught enough for dinner and but the rest back. We kept 6 fish and probably caught and released 25-30 really good trout. We fished our shrimp under a Paradise Popper and worked the jerk shads slowly along the bottom. What fun it is catching these big trout especially with those gigantic head shakes. We used light spinning tackle, circle hooks and a small split shot and a ¼ oz. jig head for the jerk shads.
