Bass fishing is good The bass have started to move shallow. With the rain the last couple of weeks it has put some oxygen back in the water and made the fish more aggressive. The shad have moved shallow and the bass are feeding on them. Some fish are still deep in the main lake. A shallow running crank bait like the new Gizz 4 crank bait from Smack Tackle www.smacktackle.com is working awesome right now ! It is the best shad imatation crank bait I have ever used ! This is a new bait and I caught fish on it the first time I used it,Spotted Bass and Stripers love them! Look for schools of shad in the back of the bays and creeks. Working a flat sided crank bait in the areas where the shad are present will produce some good stringers of bass.

Crappie fishing is good. The crappie have started biting good on the old river channel drops using minnows and a bottom bouncing rig. Tie a 1/2 or 3/4 ounce bell sinker on your main line then come up 16 inches and tie a eagle claw size 1 snelled aberdeen hook on the line, then drop this rig to the bottom and bring it back up one crank of your reel off the bottom. Fish the dropoffs of the old river channels and look for any structure on the drop and work the structure slowly with your trolling motor. Target the 12-16 feet range in the Little river and Chattooga river area The Coosa river channel near Yellow creek is also producing well. Use a quality All Pro spinning rod in 5 or 6 foot length with a medium action .
Striper fishing is fair and the stripers are in the Cave Hole in Little river. Some fish have started to move back to the river channels in the main lake Use live shad on a down line 8 to 10 feet deep and flat lines are producing well. Look for the schools of stripers on your fish finder and adjust your bait depth to get it a foot or so above them.
The new GIZZ 4 crank bait is working awesome also right now! On a trip sunday afternoon it out fished live bait 4 to 1 ! It is the most realistic shad imatation bait I have ever used, Stripers love them and so will you ! www.smacktackle.com

Catfish are biting great. The catfish are biting all over the lake and they are being caught by jug fishermen and people fishing off of docks are really catching alot of fish on Chicken livers and night crawlers, use cut shad or live bream for the bigger fish and fish the main coosa river below the big bridge in Cedar Bluff.
