Bass fishing is good The fish that went shallow have moved back to secondary points and deeper rocky banks following the shad. Some fish are still deep on the ledges in the main lake. I have been seeing some spotted bass surface action early in the morning on the old Coosa river channel near Yellow Creek A shallow running crank bait like the new Gizz 4 crank bait from Smack Tackle www.smacktackle.com is working awesome right now ! It is the best shad imitation crank bait I have ever used ! This is a new bait and I caught fish on it the first time I used it, Spotted Bass, Large mouth and Stripers love them! Look for schools of shad in the back of the bays and creeks. Working a flat sided crank bait in the areas where the shad are present will produce some good stringers of bass.

Crappie fishing is great. The crappie are biting awesome ! Come on down to Weiss for some hot fall action. Fish the old Coosa river channel drops using minnows and a bottom bouncing rig.A lot of 60 fish limits have been coming in this week using this technique. Tie a 1/2 or 3/4 ounce bell sinker on your main line then come up 16 inches and tie a eagle claw size 1 snelled aberdeen hook on the line, then drop this rig to the bottom and bring it back up one crank of your reel off the bottom. Fish the drop offs of the old river channels and look for any structure on the drop and work the structure slowly with your trolling motor. Target the 12-16 feet range in the Coosa river channel from the mouth of Bay Springs cove, up river to the causeway at Cedar Bluff. Use a quality All Pro spinning rod in 5 or 6 foot length with a medium action .
Striper fishing is Good The stripers are in the coosa river below the cause way in Cedar Bluff down to Leesburg. Look for the fish on the ledges in 12-20 feet of water, fish a live shad on a down line for some hot action. Down river below the Cedar bluff bridge is holding plenty of fish, fish directly behind the old roadway that makes a point on the down river side.
The White Bass and Yellow Bass are schooling on top early and late in the main lake, look for flats near the old river channel near Yellow Creek. Use a White or Yellow Rooster Tail or a Little George for lots of action.

Catfish are biting great. The catfish are biting all over the lake and they are being caught by jug fishermen and people fishing off of docks are really catching alot of fish on Chicken livers and night crawlers, use cut shad or live bream for the bigger fish and fish the main coosa river below the big bridge in Cedar Bluff.
