With winds blowing almost straight out of the North we launched from Jensen Beach and decided to run to the West Wall of the Indian River. We ran for approx. 5 minutes and started working the docks that are spread along this area. The first cast immediately produced a nice Snook using a Mirrodine. With this being only a 1/2 day charter and starting out late I knew I had to get on the fish quickly and it had appeared that I did. We continued fishing the Mirrodines and the strikes continued to occur, however most were short strikes. It was still the sign that the fish were hungry and wanted to feed. I at this time switched up a Mirrodine to a soft plastic DOA Shrimp in Chartreuse. First cast produced a nice Trout in the 4 pound range and the second cast produced another fish in comparable size. We switched up baits and started making the slower presentations and this was the ticket that really paid off. We continued picking up Snook and Trout working the docks and the potholes spread amongst the grass. Time was running short so we made one last stop at a dock figuring the possibility of Snook and to our surprise we found a school of Redfish holding and feeding along the dock. We immediately hooked up on 2 fish and the fight ensued with each fish running in different directions. What a way to finish out the day! We released all of the fish that were caught however the total for the day was 4 Snook, 17 Trout and 2 Redfish which were absolute monsters.
