The lake is 170.8 ft. msl, high pool is 172 ft msl, both generators are
shut down and the lake is holding steady. We received about an inch of
rain last night and expecting some more rain tonight. If SRA keeps both
generators closed, the lake should be on a rise. The north end of the
lake is stained to clear from high winds. Water temps are running in the
upper 60s.
It's been a mixed bag lately when it comes to catching bass. Some fish
are still shallow and can be caught if the conditions are right. It just
depends on if a front comes in, cloud cover or high pressure.
Top water
plugs, buzz baits, spinner baits, frogs and finesse plastics work well
early and late especially if we have the cloud cover. Work the pepper-
grass in two to four feet of water that's close to deep water. A lot of
fish have spawned and are gradually moving back into deeper water. Main
and secondary points, creek channel bends, humps and ridges are also
holding some fish. Crank baits, Carolina rigs and jigs are good baits to
target bass in six to twelve feet of water.
The White bass have been phenomenal the last month on the main lake
river channel sand bars. When a front comes through it might slow the
bite down for a day or so but we've pretty much been limiting out in
short order.
We've even started to see some huge schooling activity
before our last front. Slab spoons have been working well in fourteen to
eighteen feet of water on the old river sand bars and chrome traps doing
the trick when schooling.
The bream are getting ready to bust wide open. We're already starting to
see some moving into the shallows. They haven't bedded up yet but it
want be long.
