We found the walleyes were hugging bottom tightly over the weekend when northwest winds Saturday kicked the lake up to 2 to 4 foot waves. Worm harnesses with gold, green or purple spinner blades drift fished with bottom bouncers were the hottest bait. Hammered gold #5 blades were the hottest, but medium green (John Deere) were also good.

Along with a fast limit of 48 walleyes we also took several large fish with a 31 inchers topping the day.

Sunday saw the wind die a lot but the bite stayed hot.

The walleye bite in the Western Basin will continue to be on fire as long as the weather is somewhat stable. The 2003 hatch (fish 18 - 23") dominate but larger fish are mixed in.

Charters are fishing both hair jigs and harnesses with most moving to harnesses tipped with worms
