Greetings,
The cold fronts we have been having as of late has kept water temps dropping. When that happens our winter fish become my prime targets. Winds and heavy seas have kept us close, but action fill our days none the less.
Onn the artificial reefs and wrecks Sheepshead have started to show up along with good numbers of Black Drum and a few Bull Redfish. Head knocker shrimp rigs and shrimp tipped jigs will catch both. Chumming with cut shrimp will kick off the bite. This is the time of year that trolling with deep running lures or planers, or down riggers can pay off with nice gag grouper. Color changes daily, but the presentation needs to be close to the bottom to be effective.
There is good Pompano and Bluefish action along with Ladyfish and Silver trout in most passes and sand bars as well. Again, shrimp, and jigs will server you well.
Sincerely, Capt. Rick
