Sal Mattino

This winter trip starts out on a early December morning with overcast skies temperatures dropping as the morning progesses!

Winds are from the north west at a speed of 15-20 knots gusting to almost 25 knots at times.Sea conditions are three to four foot rollers in the St. Lucie Inlet. We travel north west of the inlet about half mile in.We start a drift back and forth using whole sardines on light tackle and circle hooks. At first the bite was hit and miss, but then the frenzy began with a half dozen bluefish in the 18-24 inch range with occasional 26 inch blue taking the bait. The battles were fast & furious! Pound for pound bluefish are one of the most fierce fighting fish in the sea!

After about two good hours of catch & release of these migrating predators we finished up with a few jack crevale. That's all for now, this is Capt Sal for St. Lucie Sportfishing Charters. Look us up on the web at www.profishingcharters.com. to book a trip for Wintertime Blues! Take care until next time,Capt. Sal out!
