Sailfishing has been nothing short of spectacular so far this winter. The fish began to show up with the bait schools in the middle of October with the passing of the first cold front of the season. Our usual methods of kite fishing goggle eyes or slow trolling live ballyhoos account for 90% of the fish. Dan and Gabe from Ny and Fort Lauderdale went one for two on sailfish on the 3rd, Dan has waited his whole life to catch one of these magnificent gamefish and finally did it on the Local Knowledge. They also caught two sharks and a couple of barracudas. Fishing Fort Lauderdale on the 4th and the 5th was good friends and repeat customers Ryan, Joe and Tom we banged the tile fish pretty hard, Ryan caught a real nice hammerhead and Tom caught a huge Maqhi Mahi which we took over to the Bahia Cabana for lunch. Alfradoe from South America Caught a nice sailfish on the 7th, on the 8th Ian, Todd and Mike from Brooklyn caught two blacktip sharks a nice kingfish some tile fish and jumped off a sailfish. We got weathered out a few days and on the 13th took my dad, Randy, Timmy, Jackie and Mark. Mark a friend and business partner of my dad, who caught a swordfish with us last year continued his luck and caught his first sailfish with us and my dad pulled one out as well. Business always gets a little slow right before Christmas so we sat at the dock a little bit more than I like. Christmas Eve brought TY, John, Travis and Adam from pittsburgh and Houston. Travis caught a nice saifish and John and Adam both caught blacktip sharks.
