The winter sailfish fort lauderdale fishing is in full swing. Most days we are catching multiple fish with kingfish and dolphin mixed in. The best bet has been live bait under the kites. Slow trolling ballyhoo has been really effective also. Remember to give circle hooks a try as they do their job in helping to protect the fish from injury while also giving you solid corner of the jaw hookups.

On the swordfish front, we have had several trips where the bite was consistent. The latest craze right now is catching them in the daytime. The fish are usually bigger when fishing the daytime drift as we are putting baits right on the bottom in 1600 – 2000 feet of water. There have been several fish in the 300 to 400 pound range caught over the last month. The seas have not been our side, but we are still getting out there.

Don't forget to book your trip in advance as we are filling up for the winter time grind. January and February are my favorite months as they offer a chance to catch all species especially the acrobatic sailfish.

Tightlines,

Captain Mika
