Aug 24 My cleints and I left the dock with south east winds around 10mph and the last 2hr of the outgoing tide in the back country for a morning half day trip. On arrival to one of my dead low tide spots we were greeted by a school of tailing bonefish which happen to be working our way. I jumped up on the poleing platform and just kid the bow into position and John quickly stripped out 40ft of line and made a cast that landed the fly in the middle of the school. One little strip and he was hooked up. As he was clearing his line and doing battle the school stayed at the bow still feeding. I pulled out another rod and striped about 30ft of line and handed the rod to john's wife who only casted a couple of times at my dock. She made a false cast and then did the best haul out of anyone and shot 20ft of line to these fish. The fly found its mark and with a couple of strips she was hooked up. After a couple of minutes we had both bones along boat side and where released. What a nice start and I did nothing other than stopping and shuting the engine off. AS the tide went slack and was dead low we found couple of redfish up and feeding in no water at all. I had John jump out of the boat and make a stalk on foot up to these fish. He made a super cast and had redfish up to us in short order. As I worked off the flat we ran into one more redfish that eat like a champ. The weather got a little bad so we had to run in and call it a day, but 2 bones and 2 redfish is not bad for couple of hours fishing.
With Aug and Sept comes Bonefish and Reds.
