We have been finding those Dolphin almost everywhere in the blue waters. On one day we were able to find real nice weed patches 7 miles off the coast. The Dolphin were everywhere mainly alot of schoolie size fish and a few larger fish over 30 pounds. We saw what looked like a Marlin chasing after a school of Dolphin. Have you ever seen over 20 Mahi jump out of the water at the same time?

The trend each day seemed that the Dolphin were being pushed further and further offshore. I heard 1 boat say they had all they wanted 24 miles out. We stayed inshore those days and had a great time fishing the reef. Alot of oversize Barracuda are biting and they can jump out of the water as high as any Kingfish or Sailfish. We also caught some nice Kingfish around 25 pounds on live Goggle eyes. The Sailfish are still here, scattered but they are around. Ian from Boca caught his first Sailfish in 120 feet of water and it was an enormous one.

This past Sunday my client George and Lawrence and their wives came aboard for a late afternoon trip. Nobody had bait to sell so we caught all the Ballyhoo we wanted and headed out to the blue water. Within minutes we watched a huge Bull Dolphin charge the spread and chase down the short line Ballyhoo. The Ballyhoo got up on his tail and ran for his life back and forth left to right escaping the Bull for a few moments then finally the Bull succeeded and swam off with the Bait. Lawrence grabs the rod to set the hook and the fish felt him early and jumped clear out of the water and shaked violently spitting the hook. We all got to see the view of this great fish pushing over 40 pounds.

The action has been great for the most part. Take advantage of the calm weather and come out on the sea.

See you on the rip,

Captain Cary Hanna
