WOW WHAT A DAY!!!!
Today I had the pleasure of fishing with Lonny Allen and his crew of misfits. These guys have been fishing with Bayou Charters for years and they just keep coming back after all of the abuse we give them.
I left the dock at 7:50am in dense fog!!! Yes very thick!!! I decided to fish Lake Amadee and Petain Lagoon. We fist stopped in Amadee and hit fish quick.. We had 64 in the boat when everything stopped. So we moved to Petain Lagoon and the trout were bigger and faster. We fished Saltwater Assassins in the Sliver Mullet color under a cork at about 1.5ft. We put number 111 in the boat for 9:28am. Yep it was fast action.
We left that area and moved over to Four Horse Lake for the reds. They were not as aggressive as the trout but we did catch 25 with 10 being what they considered Keepers!!!
All of the reds were caught on live minnows under a cork. Nothing to special just a pop once in a while.
For all of you anglers getting ready for our winter fishing, here is a tip for ya!!!!
Braided lines will increase your catch significantly when the bite becomes almost nothing. I use 30lb power pro with the dia of 8lb mono. This stuff never breaks and when you get stuck on the bottom you can pull anything up. You must put about 50yrds of mono backing on the reel and set your drag somewhat lighter than you would with mono. Just by changing your line you can increase your catch for the winter months..
