Prince Rupert fishing season has begun. I have been outside on the Halibut grounds a dozen times this year. The latest crew and with out a doubt my favorite early season fish whackers left a few days ago with a very impressive catch of Halibut, Snapper, Ling Cod and Crabs. Each year I look forward to my 420 friends from Prince George. Kerry and Chris are seasoned veterans with many large and aggressive Halibut boated over the years.

This year was no exception. The largest Halibut went to Kerry who boated a 97.5 pound slab. As far as I can tell she has landed the biggest Halibut 6 years running. A close second went to a first timer Dan who was close at 95 pounds even.

Jigging for cod with this bunch is like shooting ducks in a barrel. Chris seems to feel the bottom with a lite touch that brings bite after bite on the jigs.It warms my heart when skilled jiggers whack rack and stack large Snappers and Lingers. With coolers full two days in a row and Crab traps stuffed every pull the 420 bunch left for home with serious tonnage. I can not wait fore next year for their return.

Bio: Prince Rupert fishing charters guide for 25 years. We specialize in catching large and aggressive Salmon and Halibut. Welcome to the Deep Spring Charters home page. My company specializes in catching large and aggressive Salmon and Halibut. These are not our only targets though. I love seeking out Ling cod, Snapper and Rock fish where they live. These fish are not safe when I am on the water. It is not uncommon to have all my fish coolers filled to the top by the end of the day. I call this food gathering.
