The fishing has been excellent in the Mosquito Lagoon and Indian River Lagoon. It started last Thursday after something tropical passed through. I guess the fish did not eat for a few days. Thursday Craig Thornhill and his son Ashley from England landed 12 redfish. Craig also jumped a 12-14 pound tarpon which spit the hook after a great jump. The guys had a blast.
Friday Craig Doeden and Tom joined me. This was the slowest day of the five but we still got 8 reds and some nice trout.Great guys and fun time on the water!
Saturday was off the hook! We had a group charter with Ringpower and Roger Adkins and Laurie Esler wore out the fish. They landed 32 redfish on the day. Laurie had not fished in many years and never had fished the flats. After a few casting lessons she put a whuppin' on some reds.
Sunday was the 'Hunt for Reds' tournament. Most spots wins. It was windy and rainy. Darren House and Doug Smith joined me again and the guys slammed 28 redfish. We could only manage a 6 spot fish. It was a blast!
Monday my long time client Carl Rosa joined me and we landed 16 redfish and some nice trout. Awesome day with great company!
The fish have been eating artificial and cut baits. The MirrOdine 17 MR is a hot bait. A Rip Tide Mullet on a 1/8 ounce jig head works awesome. Come on down and fish. We are only 40 minutes from Orlando, Florida.
