We got going at around 14h00 for a 3hr session targeting Game Fish in Durban Harbour, there was a stiff NE wind blowing, which eventually died away completely by the end of our session leaving the bay looking like a sheet of glass. At Centre Bank the water surface temperature was 22.5 deg. C, and in the Silt Canal it was 24 deg. C
We went to one of my most productive spots in the bay looking for some King Fish, but we found nothing there and so I decided to go to another place as our time was very limited and this proved to be a good choice.
At the second spot it was not very long before we landed a lovely Green Spot King Fish on a Z-Man Paddle Tail Lure who gave us a good fight.
Shortly after that we hooked up and after a hard fight landed a nice size Sea Pike (Pick Handle Barracuda) on the Topwater Z-Claw which has now been fitted with stronger hooks (3X) after we lost a good Springer the other day due to opening hooks.
By now the wind had died completely and we hooked a nice little Yellow Tail King Fish on a Z-Man Paddle Tail, we hooked up one more decent size Yellow Tail King Fish after this but lost him at the boat. I also hooked a Cormorant which took the Z-Claw.
After the session was over I left my guests at the mooring and went back out into the bay as there was a total absence of Springer and I wanted to search around for them, unfortunately I did not find any signs of Springer but did find a some Walla-Walla (Ribbon Fish) and caught a whole bunch on the Z-Claw to take home to use as bait for targeting Game Fish off-shore.
