North East Wind...
This week we saw a persistent NE wind all week. During the beginning of the week we saw gust up to 30 knots and towards the end of the week we saw NE winds at 15-20 knots which allowed us to get out and do some fishing. It was still windy, but the fish sure loved the wind. Bait is still everywhere you turn, from Longboat Key Pass, the piers on the north end of Anna Maria Island, and the grass flats around Bradenton. We were able to go out off the beach around Longboat Key and Anna Maria Island and catch Mackerel, Kingfish, Bonita, and some smaller Sharks. The Redfish and Snook bite around Bradenton has really picked up the closer we got to the full moon (see video). The bite seemed to be better on the incoming tide and slowed down towards the top end of the tide and picked back up when the tide really started pushing out. Most of the Snook and Redfish we caught this week mixed in with the larger schools of mullet near the vast grass flats and mangrove shorelines off Palma Sola, Terra Ceia, and Bradenton.
