[Anna Maria Island,FL] During the first week of April we seen strong winds all week, starting out of the south at 20-25 knots then ending the week with a strong 20-25 knot winds out of the north as a cool front passed over our area.
[Anna Maria Island,FL] Cold to HOT... We started the second week of March with the remits of a significant cold front that pushed though the region, leaving us water water temperatures in the high 50's. The week prior we had water temperatures in the mid
[Anna Maria Island,FL] This reporting period has seen its ups and downs as far as the water temperature. We started the 1st week off in March with water temperatures reaching 78
[Anna Maria Island,FL] Well the past two weeks we have seen a persistent 15 knot north-east wind for the past two weeks which has made fishing challenging at times. The wind has made it especially tough sometimes to go and get bait out in the middle of Tampa Bay, as we faced a 3 foot tight chop of waves. Taking that into
[Anna Maria Island,FL] Well the past two weeks have been trying to say the least, between the red tide and Hurricane Matthew we have seen our fair share of natural "adversities" over the past two weeks. We will start off with the red tide issue, the red tide did not dramatically affect
[Anna Maria Island,FL] A touch of Fall... Fishing has been pretty good as we officially make our way into the fall season. Although the weather has not seemed to cool down much you can definitely tell that the fish have started to fall into their fall pattern. Bait has been plentiful out off the
[Anna Maria Island,FL] Well the last part of August and the 1st couple days of September were a washout as Hurricane Hemine brought record amounts of rain and gusty winds for most of the week. Prior to Hemine fishing was pretty good and we had no complaints. After Hemine brought record rain fall amounts it took a couple days for the fish to get back into their normal state. The bite...
[Anna Maria Island,FL] Schools back in session... This is the time of year when the little ones head back to school and typical we start to slow down, but I've been still pretty busy and the fish have been busy as well. Bait is still plentiful and can be found on almost any grass
[Anna Maria Island,FL] Well, the past two weeks we have seen a low pressure system that sat on top of Anna Maria Island and Florida for six days straight. The low pressure system brought daily rain and dropped the water temperature considerably in some areas. In most of the areas I...
[Anna Maria Island,FL] Summer is here to stay for the next couple months, which means the small bait has shown up. We have all the small bait (pilchards) you want on the flats around Anna Maria Island, just make sure you are throwing a 1/4" mesh net or you will have a Christmas
[Anna Maria Island,FL] That's how fishing has been the past couple weeks...on fire. First of all, I'm sorry I haven't posted a report in a couple weeks, I've been extremely busy fishing and on most days fishing double trips.
[Anna Maria Island,FL] We started out the week on the back side of the Full Moon which left us with great tides at the beginning of the week and then towards the middle and end of the week I had to move my trips to the early to late afternoon
[Anna Maria Island,FL] This week started out a little slow after another cold front passed through the area late last week, but as we went through the week and temperatures rebounded the fishing did as well. The bait has not moved from previous
[Anna Maria Island,FL] We had excellent weather and fishing all week, a perfect "chamber of commerce" week. Pilchards (Bait) have been slowly moving away from the middle of Tampa Bay and showing up to spawn on the grass flats near Anna Maria Island. The Trout have been
[Anna Maria Island,FL] The Snook bite has continued to remain strong with most of my trips catching around 20+ Snook. Most of the Snook are in 2 ft - 3 ft of water on or near sandy holes on
[Anna Maria Island,FL] Now let talk about some fishing. The fishing has remained pretty strong except for a late season cold front we had push through the area early last week. The front drop the water temperature around 12 degrees...
[Anna Maria Island,FL] Sheephead fishing is on fire with most of the fish being caught around dock near the passes on shrimp. Also, the Redfish have been biting on the warmer days on the shallow grass flats
[Anna Maria Island,FL] North East Wind... This week we saw a persistent NE wind all week. During the beginning of the week we saw gust up to 30 knots and towards the end of the week we saw NE winds at 15-20 knots which allowed us to get out and
[Anna Maria Island,FL] Bait has still been pretty much everywhere from the grass flat, to the piers around the northern side of Anna Maria Island, and the Skyway fishing piers. This week we were in between moon cycles and we only
[Anna Maria Island,FL] Windy end to the Week... This week we have saw some really good fishing. The start week brought beautiful weather and calm seas. The end of the week brought 20 knot winds out of the North West
[Anna Maria Island,FL] Super moon brings super fishing... This week we saw the approach of the "super full moon" which brought higher than normal tides and outstanding fishing. Bait is everywhere
[Anna Maria Island,FL] Steady as she goes... This week has been just that, steady. We are between moon cycles and saw moderate tidal movement in combination with most fishing trips this week falling on the outgoing tide..
[Anna Maria Island,FL] Lets start off with bait... its everywhere. The trick is finding good quality size bait, finding bait that is mostly pilchards,
[Anna Maria Island,FL] Rain, rain go away come back another day... We are into the third week of the same weather pattern, west winds and rain! Even though the weather has not been cooperating as much as we would like, we are still getting in trips on most days. The Trout bite remains the fish to go after, as the bite is the most consistent and productive. The only challenge is
