Yesterday I had Mike Matt of Slidell, President of Clear Comm Communications. He treated his dad, Charlie, to a day on the water down here in South East Louisiana. I checked the NOAA forecast when I awoke and winds were forecasted "near 5kts" out of the NW.
We were headed straight for the Sound and soon as we hit the channel I knew immediately it was time to shift gears. We tried off the channel a bit but the NW was blowing right down the chute, giving no places to hide. So I headed us back towards lake Eloi and fished some wells off lee banks.
It was the move we needed to make. Water wasn't all that clean but was fishable and the trout were there. The father son team kept me busy busy at the first stop, bringing them into the net at a steady clip. It eventually played out after they put about 40 on ice.
I moved us to another well and in minutes some nice fish kicked on, allowning my crew to put it to rest. At 9 o'clock we pointed the bow back to Breton Sound Marina with their limit of 50 nice trout on ice.
All fish were caught under corks on live Boogie Shrimp about 4' deep in about 6' of water. It turned out another awesome day even though weather conditions were marginal at best.
