April and May are in my opinion two of the best months to fish South Florida and boy we were not disappointed. We did many trips during the Spring season and most involved good to great action. Over the last month or so I've tried to sit and type a reoport several times but it hasn't materialized and I do appologize. I actually decided to condense the report into a quick synopsis of the action.
Most of the Spring fishing involved kite fishing and live baits. We hung goggle eyes, herring, and pilchards off the kites with great success. Our catches consisted of many sailfish, a few mahi, kingfish, and mutton snapper. We also caught a few real nice blackfin tuna.
The most memorable trip that we had was with one of my regular clients fishing the Columbus High School tournament. The tournament had a funfish format and we did quite nice catching Jose Jr. a nice 27# blackfin tuna to win 1st. place in the Jr. division. Jr. also had the top overall kingfish of the event with a 29.6 smoker.
During May we also did some tarpon trips with good success. We release several silver kings with the largest fish well over a hundred pounds. This particular fish wore out Dominic the angler while his girlfried filmed the action on their Go Pro video camera.
Lately the focus has changed from sailfish to dolphin and snapper fishing. There has also been some nice kings around at times.
Well, there you have it and hopefully I'll have another report very soon. I've got some trips coming up were will be targeting snapper and mahi. If you're thinking about booking a trip or have questions please feel free to call, email, or text. You can also check for updates and/or pictures by following us on Facebook.
