The winter chinook fishing in Barkley Sound has been very good. The Bamfield Wall and Brady's Beach have had some fish 1n the 6 to 8 pound range. Sarita Bay and the area surrounding has been very good. Sarita has had fish in 55 to 70 feet of water. They are hitting silver spoons. Green nickel and a silver M.T. coyote spoon have been very good. The Green Can to Nanat has been very good. The salmon have been sitting in 90 to 120 feet of water and have been hitting an Irish Mist and green spatter back hootchie. Leader lengths on the hootchies have been 42 inches behind a plaid or purple haze flasher. Jon of Slivers Charters Salmon Sport Fishing had good days on Monday and Wednesday. The water was flat and guests from Germany picked up 8 beautiful salmon ranging from 7 to 12 pounds each day.
Pill Point and Samatao Bay have had some fish. If there is any wind Samatao is a great spot as one can hide out of the wind. We are expecting the winter chinook to remain very good for the next few weeks. We have not been fishing the Vernon Bay Swale Rock area but reports are that the fishing is good in those areas also.
