Fishing for salmon just outside the Ucluelet Harbour located on Vancouver Island British Columbia has been very good for the last couple of weeks. Chinook salmon from 10 to 17 pounds has been incredible with some fish coming in the mid twenties. Mara Rock, the Alley and Great Bear have all produced some great fishing days. To this time we have been fishng the early summer Chinook which are migrating to southern watersheds. The salmon are a little deeper being found in 100 to 125 feet. Trolling close to the bootom has been very good. Coyote spoons at 4 inches in various green colors have been hot as have needle fish hootchies and also the army truck glow hootchie. To date the needle fish has been outfishing a lot of other lures and also bait. The needlefish will be a good lure all year and should be green or blue in color. We are expecting the first Chinook of the mid summer run to begin to appear. These fish will be bigger and with them should be some great Coho schools. Don't miss out on one of the best ever salmon fishing years on British Columbias' West Coast. We are expecting Barkley Sound and the Port Alberni Inlet to be very good.
Sockeye fishing in the Port Alberni Inlet opens on June 1st. Call Doug at 1 250 724 2502 for more information and to book an accomodation fishing package call 1 877 314 6800.
