Due to Sunday's cancellation, I went and made a Sound scout trip, for my Monday's charter. Located some good fish in most areas and a few BIG fish on some of the AH facilities. Trout 2- 6+lbs were caught on live shrimp under corks and carolina rigged, along with Mirrolure 5' straight tails which hung the biggest of the fish!
Yesterday, for the 4th, I had the pleasure of fishing with Rob Defraites of Reliable Disposal, his son in law Patrick, Jeff Seaver, and John.
Rob's been wanting some nice trout so straight to the Sound we went. Live shrimp deep under a cork was the ticket. Trout were being slung over the gunnel and into the net at a hasty pace. Ladyfish and blues were some what of a nuisance but they finally faded and the trout took over the show completely.
After the bite slowed we made a couple of more stops but the river water had moved in overnight. We wound up stopping in another patch of emerald green water on the edge of the Sound and it was Katy Bar the Door!!
Again trout were goin NUTS! In no time flat the crew polished off their limit of speckled trout. We then headed back to the BSM fish cleaning tables with 100 trout, 2 pompano, and 1 drum chillin' in the igloo. All of the fish were really pretty and caught on live Boogie Shrimp and Hybrid Flurries under corks.
Once again it is plain awesome fishing right now and the bigger fish are on the rigs in the sound and the medium sized are in Black Bay from the Wreck towards Lake Campo on Rigs and birds.
