Bio: My fishing and guiding history I was born in Smithers, B.C. Canada on December 25, 1946. I grew up there and fished the whole northwest area with my Grandpa, Percival (Percy) Benjamin Emerson. He loved to fly fish. His favorite Trout fly was the Royal Coachman. He built a cabin on Babine Lake where I spent most of my summer school holidays fishing and enjoying the outdoors. Thanks to him, I am hooked on "Sportfishing" and I've come to love every aspect of it. My lifetime goals are to save the wild Salmon, Steelhead and Trout of the entire northwest area of British Columbia and establish a "Quality" sport fishing guiding industry. These are lofty goals but I will strive every day to achieve them. They are "my life long calling". I have been married for 39 years and have three daughters and seven grandchildren. I am the owner of Noel Gyger - Weekly Fishing Report and Guided Fishing Adventures of 4012 Best Street, Terrace, BC Canada V8G 5R8 Tel/Fax (250) 635-2568 Cell (250) 631-2678 E-mail noel@noelgyger.ca Website www.noelgyger.ca I started fishing the Terrace area in the 1970's. On May 24, 1983 I assisted my friend to land an 83-pound Chinook on the Kalum River. It was the river record. That experience changed my life and I started into the fish guiding industry and began exploring and fishing rivers by jet boat. I pioneered drift boats on the Kalum and Kitimat Rivers and taught many folks how to row them. I've owned a fishing lodge and guide business (Northwest Fishing Guides & Lodge) along with my wife from 1986 to 2001 when we sold it and retired but my love for the industry is just too great and after five years - I am back.
[Terrace,BC] Fishing for winter Steelhead is back to normal now. We've had some very cold weather but everything is OK now.
[Terrace,BC] The fishing has been POOR as it has been just too cold.
[Terrace,BC] The fishing is difficult now due to the extreme cold weather we are having now. The fish are here but difficult to fish for them.
[Terrace,BC] The fishing is only fair this week as the air temps have been cold. The fish are there but getting harder to catch as they spook easy
[Terrace,BC] The Salmon fishing is over for another year but Steelhead fishing continues all winter. BOOK NOW for a guided Steelhead trip in the spring 2008
[Terrace,BC] Fall steelheading is upon us. Dress warm, lets go fishing!
[Terrace,BC] Salmon fishing is over as of Oct. 31 BUT Steelhead fishing goes on. YAHOOOOO
[Terrace,BC] Fishing for both Steelhead and Coho is GREAT. Water condtions are holding
[Terrace,BC] Fishing for both Steelhead and Coho is GREAT!
[Terrace,BC] Fishing has been GREAT for both Steelhead and Coho both spin and fly fishing. COME OUT SOMETIME AND JOIN US!
[Terrace,BC] Fishing for Steelhead and Coho is GREAT!
[Terrace,BC] We have survived the mid week heavy rain. Water conditions are good. Zymoetz (Copper) River and the Kalum are both clean as of Saturday, September 29th. Even though it is still raining off and on and heavy at times, most of the rain is staying in the mountains as snow.
[Terrace,BC] We've had some rain but not enough to do any damage. It actually helped move some salmon and steelhead. Fishing is GREAT right now
[Terrace,BC] The weather, water conditions and the fishing is excellent this week. Good numbers of very bright summer-run wild Steelhead and Coho (Silver) Salmon have been caught on the Skeena River with Spey fly rods and single hand fly rods.
[Terrace,BC] Fishing has been a little slow but there still have been some BIG Steelhead landed from the Skeena River with the fly rods
[Terrace,BC] The Spey fly fishing on the Skeena River near Terrace be is fabulous. You should try it sometime. It will change you live. Contact me Noel Gyger to book your trip 250-635-2568 or e-mail me off of my website: www.noelgyger.ca
[Terrace,BC] The fly fishing on the Skeena River is fantastic. Each guided client is hooking from 10 to 50 fish each per day.
[Terrace,BC] Guided fishing in British Columbia, the part of BC I am from has been GREAT. Book a trip with me anytime.
[Terrace,BC] The fishing is excellent for just about all Salmon species. The weather is also good.
[Terrace,BC] Finally, the whole nw area of BC is fishing good for Chinook (King) Salmon...plus other Salmon
[Terrace,BC] Everyone is waiting for the big Skeena River to come into shape, in the meantime most folks have enjoyed fishing on the Kitimat River
[Terrace,BC] The main stem Skeena is still high and dirty. Hope it will clean up soon so we can get at those BIG chinook. Other coastal rivers are mostly clean and have been producing good results for Chinook.
[Terrace,BC] Fishing for Chinook (King) Salmon has been "smoking hot"! Come out sometime and enjoy a guided trip with a pro.
[Terrace,BC] The main stem Skeena River is still dirty so we go and fish the clean waters of it's tribs. We also fish NW coast rivers, especially the Kitimat River
[Terrace,BC] Fishing for Chinook (King) Salmon has been excellent on the Kitimat River and a few other coast al rivers. Hiring a Skeena River fishing guide is a real advantage
[Terrace,BC] Fishing on the Skeena is off due to past flooding but the isolated coastal rivers, such as the Kitimat, a fishing very good now. The chinook (King) Salmon run is starting to peak
[Terrace,BC] Main stem Skeena River is not fishable due to flooding but other coastal rivers are. We have many option of where we can fish
[Terrace,BC] Fishing for Chinook this week has been only fair and water conditions are not the greatest. It has been very hot and the water heights are up.
[Terrace,BC] Weather good. All rivers very high. Some not fishable but some still fishable with fair to good results. The trick is knowing where to go.
[Terrace,BC] Fishing for both Chinook (King)Salmon is very good. The Chinook run has just started and the spring Steelhead run is ending.
[Terrace,BC] Weather has been cooperating and the trib rivers are in good shape (other than the main stem Skeena River) It's fun to try and catch Steelhead and Chinook (King) Salmon on the same day!!
[Terrace,BC] Fishing has been good this week for both Steelhead and Chinook. Both fly and spin methods are working
[Terrace,BC] Fishing has been a little slow and conditions were not perfect but some Steelhead and Chinook (King) Salmon were caught anyway
[Terrace,BC] The spring Steelheading is very good. Our local rivers are staying in good shape. Come on out and enjoy the fun !!!
[Terrace,BC] This is the peak time for spring Steelhead. Water conditions holding and the fishing has been GREAT!
[Terrace,BC] The Steelhead fishing has been GREAT, especially on the Kalum River. This river is classified year round and has limited guiding.
[Terrace,BC] Steelhead fishing, especially on the Kalum River, has been excellent with some BIG ones landed!
[Terrace,BC] Spring Steelheading on the Kalum River, near Terrace BC, has be excellent for both fly and spin methods
[Terrace,BC] The Kalum River is a Skeena tributary. Fishing for Steelead this week has been GREAT. The water is low and clean.
[Terrace,BC] The weather has been fair all week. Nice to get out and fish for "wild" Steelhead. Looking forward to March 15 when we can start guiding for Steelhead on the Kalum River.
[Terrace,BC] The weather has improved. Spring is on it's way. We start guiding on the Kalum River for wild Steelhead on March 15. We are all looking forward to it.
