A little choppy in Breton Sound today. The forecast of 5-10 mph winds did not hold true. I usually use the rule of addition with the forcasts. 5-10 mph forecast equals 15 mph! The chop slowed the bite, but the fish were there. We set up on the up current side of a rig and presented live shrimp and croakers deep under corks and artificial cocahoes on 3/8 ounce jigheads. The trout were picking up the shrimp and the artificial, but would not touch the croakers. The trout were 16 -24" and fat. The bite was slow, but steady until a school of big black drum crashed the party. We caught one that went 35lbs+. After a good fight, the beast was released to spread its own form of ugly in the sea! It took a while before we figured out the trout again and when we did they wanted live croakers freelined. No cork, no carolina rig, no leader, just a hook and a croaker hooked through the lips. These trout were bigger with a couple over 5 lbs. The skies started to darken to the west and the seas had built up to three footers, so we boogied back to the boat slip just before getting wet. A good day on the water! The action in Breton Sound is good and the fish class size is very impressive this season. Good luck out there this weekend!
