Delacroix Report:
Got a late start this morning and glided out into Breton Sound. Calm seas with dark clouds all around made for an ominous foretelling of the future for us. We stopped short to test the waters around a close in rig to see what the weather would do. We started picking away at nice trout 15-22". These fish wanted live croakers freelined. The action was slow, but with the sky black where we wanted to go, we decided to stick it out. The lightning show was nice to watch from a distance! The cell rained out and we started to well hop back toward the marsh picking up a few at each stop including another mondo Black Drum around 35 lbs. We decided to target some reds and headed to the edge of the Bay. We hit a windward cove with alot of water movement and bait activity. We picked up trout, flounder and redfish on live shrimp under corks. Well, before we knew it a few cells joined together to form and unpeneratable defense of rain blocking our return to the boat slip. This rain was moving toward us fast, but there was a small gap between cells. we decided to make a run for it since there was no getting around it. The cell closed up on top of us and made for a miserable run back to the slip. The wind was howling and it was raining so hard that you could not see 50' in front of the boat. I rained almost all the way back to Delacroix. That kind of end to the day sure takes alot out of the bodies gas tank. The weather for the next couple of days looks ideal with light winds and good tidal movement. Get out there and catch some!
