The big fish bite continues. The Bay was slick calm this AM as we glided out to our first rig. First cast with a freelined croaker and nice trout in the box. We also picked up fish on artificial cocahoes on 3/8 ounce jigheads. These fish were aggressive and were 18-24". The action faded as the sun came up so we hit the next well. This well was holding trout, but smaller, 14-18". These fish wanted live shrimp carolina rigged, artificial and the freelined croakers. A Jack Crevalle decided to crash the party and we had to chase it to keep from getting spooled. After a 15 minute fight, the line broke at the boat on a 35-40 lbs Jack. We headed back to the well, but could not get the bite back. We headed further into the sound to try a few wells only to scratch in the dirty river water. Back West to good water, we set up on a submerged reef and caught specks with live shrimp under corks. The tide quit before we got to really work the reef and ended the bite. The bait was running low, so we headed to the edge to look for redfish. We set up on a nice cove with a small bayou draining it and started catching tout on live shrimp under corks. These fish were small 11-15'". Moved to another adjacent cove and picked up a red and a flounder before the skies started to darken back toward home. Not wanting to take another rain soaked beating like Monday, we decided to head back to the slip. The weather looks fishable for this long weekend. Huge tidal movement and light winds are predicted. Get out there and catch some.
