Tough fishing conditions today in Delacroix. Strong NE winds at 25-30 K and light rain to start the day. The rain stopped pretty quickly, but the wind never did. Not a day to be in unprotected waters. My guests and I hit some protected flats adjacent to deep water and caught limits of trout 14-18". Most fish fell for artificial cocahoes in smoke, but as the strong rising tide diminished, live shrimp and croaker carolina rigged came on strong. We started fishing casting upstream and letting the baits tumble toward the fish, but ended up catching most fish cross current. We hit a redfish hole on the way back to the slip and were lucky to hook into 2 reds 20-24". The water was so high in the marsh, that the reds are way up in the grass and we could not get in to get them. Friday may be OK, but the rest of the weekend looks grim for weather conditions - 70+% chance of rain and gusty winds. You have to go to know and like an old timer told me once, "the fish do not care if it rains because they are already wet"! Good luck out there!
