Dorado on Spinning Tackle for Nawty Girl.
Offshore Fishing Report – Durban – 05 March 2019
To miss the strong winds this morning and harness the rest of the day with a great forecast we only launched after 08h00 for a short trip, this proved to be a wise choice as the sea was flat and conditions stunning. Water has got cold with some readings as low as 19 deg.C and other places 24 deg.C. No blue water was found and the day was left hunting for fish in green water. Trolling out to the reefs for some bottom fishing was very quiet and as we started bring in the lines there was some action by a Dorado that would not commit to the lure and so a bottom trace on a spinning rod ready with squid was thrown into the spread without a sinker, this yielded us 1 nice Dorado for the day and the first Dorado we have seen in over a week as they have been absent, shortly after this whilst still clearing lines the same thing happened but this Dorado managed to get himself loose. The rest of the day was spent bottom fishing with a wide variety of bottom fish being caught.
