We had the pleasure of having the Elliott family aboard the Marlin My Darlin for two ½ day Ft. Lauderdale fishing trips this week. These folks weren't experienced locals heading out for their umpteenth time. This was a first time offshore trip for them and something they had always wanted to experience. I spoke with Mrs. E several times in the days leading up to the charter and on that first day.
A decent day waited for us offshore the first morning, but not a perfect one. A south wind had a chop on the ocean and while very fishable (as local anglers say) there was a bounce to it. Nice clean water again on the reefs and a partly cloudy sky. Just less than a knot of north current in 120 feet of water. Good fishing conditions.
Our second charter with the Elliotts had an essentially sunny sky and the wind had dropped out a bit, but still we were able to launch our kites later in the charter after trolling back and forth across the reef line and over and around a couple of wrecks. Water again clean but a bit bluer and once again the north running current. Close to a Postcard Perfect day. Good fishing and good fun for the Elliotts on their trips. Three Sails, Kings, Bonito, and Tuna. Almost all action was inside of 300 feet of water depth with the best action inside 150 feet.
