The Steelhead fishing in the Stamp River was almost non existent for 7 or 8 days due to the big rain in the area which is close to Port Alberni B.C. Vancouver island. But the Stamp is now coming down and the last couple of days we have had some pretty good success aboard our jet boats. Our guides have found some areas of quieter water. We have fished close to the banks of the river. When the water is as high as it got the rivers edges is where the Steelhead like to sit. The fishing below "the bucket" has been very good. One is permitted to use bait below "the bucket". Using roe and roe bags has been working well. Fresh fish are coming into the system and with the amount of water we now have fishing should remain very good for winter Steelhead well into March. Steelhead fishing for those that enjoy fly fishing is best in mid October into November. The river water is still relatively low and the Chinook in the river have dropped their eggs and the Summers become very active.
