Fifteen to twenty minutes after leaving the dock, lines were in 120 ft. of water at the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale, 1.8 miles from shore. We started the trip trolling with 4 surface lines and two deep planner lines.

Now that Labor Day is in our rear view mirror and everyone has settled into a new school year, the offshore action is not taking recess. The final catch of the day was a really nice Wahoo, which was also caught on the deeper sea witch line. The angler did a great job in reeling in the Wahoo and brought him to the side of the boat. Joe, our mate, gaffed the Wahoo and put him on ice.

Our spread of baits were 4 surface Ballyhoos and two deep plainer lines with sea witch and Bonito strips. We headed in and of out the reef structure, working over good areas which held bait. The first strike we had was just on top of a rock pile structure, and it hit the long deep plainer bait 6 times before finally getting hooked.

We started trolling by the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale in 120 ft of water 1.8 miles from shore. We put out two kites with two live Goggle Eyes from each kite. We also put a dead Bonita bait 100 ft. down and another 200 ft. down on the bottom. Our target species were Sailfish, Mahi Mahi, Shark and Grouper.
