We had a very nice day today with about a 10 mph breeze out of the east. Mostly sunny with only one brief shower today and the temperature was right at 90. Certainly warm but not ridiculously hot and with the onshore breeze it was very comfortable.
Our trip today on our Ft. Lauderdale fishing charter was a circle of friends that got acquainted while on the professional gambling tour. The big event is beginning Thursday over at the Hard Rock. Five guys and one wife (Leslie) from various parts of the country.
There have been a few Sails around but today was a quiet one for them. As has been the norm the Bonito and Kings were here and that is David (Diesel) with a nice fish along side of Captain Chris who worked the lines today. Trolling back and forth across the reef line continues to be the best way to get the most bites on a charter, and that held true again today, but this fat one pictured was taken on a live Goggle Eye kite bait which was fished with a short piece of wire leader just for these kings and the occasional Wahoo that take a live bait presented below the kites. A fish once he reaches this size more often than not will get a monofilament leader which is great for live baiting Sails and Mahi-Mahi just inside their mouth and in those teeth and he will cut you off very quickly. On the majority of our Ft. Lauderdale fishing charters here @ All-Inclusive Sportfishingthis time of year we use that short piece of wire to give us a better chance of hanging on to toothy fish like this one.
